MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Haneef R. Jordan

Sometimes you meet a person and are instantly drawn to their kind spirit and genuine positive and humble nature. That is exactly how I felt the moment I met Haneef R. Jordan.   A funny, charismatic radio host (doing radio since 2011), she also wears many hats as a wife, mother, and teacher. Her radio station “Simply Haneef” brings a new platform on expressing one’s self, as her shows uplift the family unit and all who tune in. Haneef speaks life, love and building self~esteem, one show at a time! Affectionately dubbed the ‘self esteem guru’, she helps her clients change the way they see themselves and the way they decide to live.

Are you full or part time business owner?

I am currently a full time business owner

Why did you start your business?

I decided to run after my destiny and live in my purpose.

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your business?

Being able to spend quality time with my family, and being fully present.

What are your biggest challenges?

Truthfully, generating income on a consistent basis, as my business is about sponsorships.  Yet, hard work does pay off. So never fold because you are challenged in this area.

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

To stay consistent, be clear on your message, and focus on perfecting one thing at a time.

Do you have a team, or are you a one man/woman show?

No one is a one woman/man show. The truth is everyone helps in their own way. So to answer your question, I have a team, i.e. God, my family, my friends, my Facebook and social media (tribe).

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

I see Simply Haneef making a difference in the lives of people all over.  Through the radio/ TV show, I see Simply Haneef, the brand, on a global scale. Forbes list…that’s what I see in the next 5 years.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the making?

Here’s my advice: Trust the process, perfect you’re niche. Pay attention to your circle and surround yourself with people who believe in you and what you stand for. Make sure you surround yourself with others who have a positive light around them. Focus on connecting with people you can learn from, who are where you would like to be one day. Never stop learning or being willing to learn from others. Never stop creating and writing things down as they come.  Review them often. Learn to turn off the business to connect with those who you love. Exercise the spirit of decrement. This will help you in your decision making process (even when it’s not the popular thing to do). Make sure you always take care of the legal side of your business, so it doesn’t come back and bite you on the butt later on down the line. Lastly, give with your heart without wanting to receive anything back. Stay on your journey of always becoming your true authentic self. It’s always about the journey, it’s never about the destination.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Jennifer Pink

Today’s MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight features Ms. Jennifer Pink.  Known as the Single Mom Sage, Jennifer is a mompreneur dedicated to providing supportive resources and information to empower and strengthen single moms in their journey of womanhood and motherhood.  By the age of 25, she was a single mother of 2, embarking on a divorce, jobless, on welfare, and homeless.  When she was ready to give up and succumb to surrounding pressures, she was blessed with another chance! She was given a job, a home, and shortly after that another baby. Her life received a fresh jump start! Jennifer turned her struggles into opportunities and today, she is living confidently in her calling. She is the voice of single mothers instilling hope and help into their community!  Check out her story…

Ms Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage
Name: Ms. Jennifer Pink
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Business Name: Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage
Years in Business: 8 years with The P.I.N.K. Foundation
1.5 as Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage

Are you a full or part time business owner?
I still work a full time job, and run my businesses full time as well.

Why did you start your business?
I originally started my non-profit because I was homeless, jobless and about to go through a divorce with 2 kids and couldn’t find a job. So a friend pushed me to use my skills to start my own business. I started The Persistent Investigation for Never-Ending Knowledge (P.I.N.K.) Foundation. The original mission was to bring together like-minded women in hopes of supporting one another in life. After I got pregnant with my 3rd (and last) child, I felt like I couldn’t continue being an entrepreneur, work, and be a mother. Well, the network I built through P.I.N.K. wasn’t hearing it and one woman in particular, Jasmine Powers, pushed me to do something, especially blogging. I was resistant but finally gave in and set out to create my blog. The entrepreneur in me wouldn’t allow me not to create a brand for the blog. I knew I was going to call it The J’s Sandbox (my children and I all have names that start with J), and it was going to be about my journey of raising them in the sandbox of life. I asked one of my network groups for advice on what to call myself; everybody says mompreneur and such, so I wanted to be original. One of my mentors, Denise J. Hart, asked a couple of questions about who I really am and what the blog was about and its purpose, and gave me the name Single Mom Sage. It was like she opened my eyes to the purpose of my life. Within minutes after her crowning me with that title I had created Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage. I now know how I can turn my pain, struggles, and victories into a life saving message for women just like me. If I can help one single mom not go round and round in the circle of survival, then it is all worth it.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?
Watching the spark it has created in my daughter. My daughter is the oldest, and watching me create my business and brand has sparked her to go after her dreams on her own terms. From birth I have surrounded her with images from my OBGYN, to her pediatrician, dentist and teachers. I wanted to instill in her that she can be anything. I never thought that I would be the thing she wanted to become. I can’t wait to watch what it manifests in my boys lives.

What are your biggest challenges?
My blood family. I come from a “we don’t tell our dirt in the streets” family. We smile, walk with poise and grace, and serve others even when our house is burning down right behind us. So for them, I’ve made way too many mistakes, and standing up in front of anyone and telling them I am a single mom of 3 is terrifying to them. They can’t stand that I speak my mind on social media or that I tell my business at all. They also can’t fathom how I could make money or support my family doing what I do. They would much rather I just work at my good job and keep climbing the ladder. Winning $10k at the Innovation Summit was the first time I heard my mom tell me she was proud of me for what I was doing in my business. Not to mention the family members who don’t like my stance because it goes against where they are in their lives so much, so they throw my past in my face in order to discredit me.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?
Just do you. When you create a business the way “they” say you should or to appease someone else, it isn’t authentic. Although you may make money, you won’t have the freedom and true success that comes from doing it your way and being you.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?
I have a small team. I have a graphic artist, an editor, and a few village members who pitch in or allow me to bounce ideas off of them.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?
This is scary to say but in the next 5 years I see myself traveling across the world empowering single moms and bringing this community together. I see my kids thriving in the creation of their boutique and the J Crew being a household name.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?
Don’t dim your light for anyone. Not your family, your friends or the world. You were meant to shine so please let your light shine in its own unique way. When we shine the way we were meant to shine, we THRIVE.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Brittney Castro

Today’s Mogul in the Making Entrepreneur Spotlight features Brittney Castro, founder and CEO of Financially Wise Women,  a Los Angeles based financial planning firm for women. She specializes in working with busy professional and entrepreneurial women who are passionate about life and want to gain clarity around their money. Brittney’s mission is to help women plan and create the life of their dreams, free from anxiety about money. She is known for her innovative, non-judgmental, compassionate approach to financial planning, and has been featured in several major publications, such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Planning Magazine, Investment News, and Registered Rep Magazine to name a few!

Check out her story…

Brittney Castro - Financially Wise Women

Name: BRITTNEY CASTRO

Location: LOS ANGELES

Business Name: FINANCIALLY WISE WOMEN

Years in Business: 2 YEARS

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Full time.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business because I am very passionate about helping others, specifically women, use their money to live their dream lives. After being a financial planner working at other firms for about 7 years, I saw how savvy and successful women were still so intimidated by their money, and most avoided hiring a financial planner since most of the industry is still made up of male financial advisors.  I wanted to be the go-to financial planner for women and teach others to live an authentic and inspiring life by learning how to make, manage, save, invest, and protect their money in a fun and simple way.  My mission is to be the type of financial planner that changes the landscape for modern women and how they see and feel about their money, and is a pioneer for other women financial planners who want to help empower and educate women around money.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

The most rewarding aspect of having my own business is seeing the direct impact my advice and guidance brings to my client’s financial lives. I love hearing the success stories of my clients who tell me they love managing their money after working with me and make more money because they are now viewing their money in a whole new way. It is beyond rewarding to know I have helped them transform their financial lives from one of stress, overwhelm and anxiety to one of fun, excitement and peace of mind. Money is just a tool to be used however we desire in life and once my clients really commit to the financial planning relationship with me, so many magical things are possible for them. It’s so amazing and it inspires me to continue helping people with their finances, one woman at a time.

Brittney Castro Money Class

What are your biggest challenges?

The biggest challenge is managing all the different hats one must wear when owning a business. Every day I have to come fully ready to tackle the many roles of being a business owner and make sure I am leading my FWW team and clients in the right direction. It is not always easy but with the help of my amazing support group full of family and friends, I am able to constantly grow to become a better and better business owner and leader for my FWW tribe.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

To enjoy the journey. I know it sounds cliché but it is so important to enjoy the ride. It is full of ups and downs, twists and turns and there is always “something” else to worry about, do, work on, etc. so you have to be able to cherish each moment and soak up as much of the journey as possible.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

I have a team that consists of one assistant and one intern.

Brittney Castro - Financially Wise Women

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

I see the FWW business becoming more of a lifestyle brand that helps women create their ideal lives and expand into the media industry in order to do so. My goal is to continue serving as many women as possible through our financial planning services, online products, webinars, workshops, live conferences, and eventually launch the Financially Wise Women TV Show to help people understand that money can really be fun and simple. We have very lofty goals, but given our track record within the past two years of starting, I am only very excited to see where the FWW path takes us.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

Keep your eye on the prize and keep going no matter what. When you follow your dreams and lead from your heart day in and day out, amazing things can happen in your life. I have been blown away by all that has come to me since starting my business and even when the naysayers and myself for that matter have doubted the goals I set out for myself, I’ve only been able to achieve more than what I imagined because I’ve stayed the course and followed my heart. Starting a business is not for the faintest of hearts but it is really incredible and if you have that burning desire inside you to launch your own business, do it. You only get one life if you are lucky so make the most of it!

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Alisha Hall

Today’s Mogul in the Making Entreneur Spotlight features Alisha Hall, founder of the Golden Women Foundation.   After receiving a Bachelors degree in Arts, Entertainment Management with a concentration in the Music Business from Columbia College Chicago, Alicia moved to Los Angeles to work for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) where she spent 10 years administering royalties and supporting the careers of composers, songwriters and publishers.  She got the idea to start Golden Women Foundation when she gathered some of her closest friends in one room to discuss some everyday topics.  Eight hours later, she knew this gathering had grown into something more than just a “conversation with the girls” but the beginning of establishing a network of women of worth and value.  Alisha is dedicated to encouraging women to becoming the best they can, not only for themselves but also for others around them.  Check out her story…

Alisha Hall - Golden Women Foundation

Name: Alisha Hall
Location: Los Angeles
Business Name: Golden Women Foundation
Years in Business: 6

Are you a full or part time business owner?
Full-Time

Why did you start your business?
In 2009, I had this deep desire to get a group of women together.  All of the women in my circle were dealing with difficulties and were too afraid to share them with anyone other than me.  My advice was limited, and I knew that if they could only open up, they could receive the help or healing they needed.  So I invited them all to our first retreat. This was unlike any other girls night out.  Mostly strangers to each other, we discussed some heavy and emotional topics.  We spoke of inspirations, defeats, pains, and victories. Leaving with so much encouragement, new friendships, and strength, I knew we had to keep this going because we were on to something great. I know now that when women open up and share their life experience, something powerful happens. When we encourage and support each other, something powerful happens. When we give back and serve others, our spirits are fulfilled. When you have a taste of that fulfillment, you never want to stop giving, encouraging, and sharing.

Alisha Hall - Golden Women Foundation

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?
I am rewarded by the peace I have at the end of my workday. I am the best co-worker I have ever had. I am diligent, I am encouraging, motivating…I do my part and I have fun while doing it. I don’t have a hidden agenda and I don’t keep secrets. I am open, so I receive all the great things in store for Golden Women Foundation. When I am blessed to have other co-workers beside myself, I have already created an awesome work environment. I have only been full-time for almost two-months but I absolutely love it! I know how hard I worked for my previous employer. I am excited about the work I am putting into Golden Women Foundation.

What are your biggest challenges?
Finding funding and grants are my biggest challenge. I know my strength is execution and getting the work done. Selling is not my strong point, however, if I focus on it as something that I must execute, I know it will get done. It will be a challenge but I will get funding. I am actually excited to see how well I do at it.

Alisha Hall - Golden Women Workshop

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of business advice I received came a few days ago. I was told to not be afraid to do what I don’t know. I need to remember to remain faithful, fearless and open. My spirit led me to give back to my community so I am coming into it with good intentions. I believe I can’t fail if my intentions are good.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?
I work with a board of directors. They are great guides and we vote and discuss all things that happen with the Foundation. They all have an expertise in different fields and collectively, we make a great team.

Alisha Hall - Golden Women Foundation

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?
I see Golden Women Foundation being the Google of resource for women that live Golden lives and want to be pillars in their community and in their homes. We all know where to go see funny memes, videos and new music. Golden Women Foundation needs to be the place to go when you want to live and lead an honorable lifestyle, and where you get and give encouragement.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?
I had the will to do more for Golden Women Foundation in my heart everyday for the past 6 years. Every day that I didn’t take a step toward my dream/vision, it literally gave me anxiety. If God has put something in your heart to do, He won’t leave you alone until you get it done. Once you do, you will be living your life like it’s Golden!

Golden Women Foundation hosts a bi-weekly small business meetup, featuring an expert guest speaker presenting on various topics to help you move your business forward.  Check out there upcoming events, and come out and learn, network, and expand your business contacts!

Melissa Hibbert - Sheeq Cosmetics Behind the Glam

Name: Melissa R. Hibbert
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Title: Celebrity Makeup Artist & Beauty Entrepreneur
Business Name: Beauty by Melissa Hibbert and SHEEQ Cosmetics
Years in Business: 4 years

Are you a full or part time business owner?
I am a fulltime business owner

Why did you start your business?
Beauty is my passion. I worked in Corporate Marketing for 14 years and I was, by all accounts successful, but my true calling is running a thriving business in Beauty.

Melissa Hibbert Sheeq Cosmetics

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?
The most rewarding aspect of having my own business is never having to wait for permission to do things I want to do and bring my ideas to life. I have the freedom to create and maximize my full potential with no limitations. That is the beauty of having my own business!

What are your biggest challenges?
The biggest challenges are wearing many hats and making sure things are balanced and not vulnerable due to being spread too thin. The other challenge is ensuring that you are accountable for not only the brand but the spending – it’s easy to want to participate, sponsor, do events, donate etc., but I have learned to say No, and be comfortable with those decisions. Not everyone will understand your business strategy, so it’s important to have a sense of discernment in all aspects of my business.

Melissa Hibbert - Sheeq Cosmetics Behind the Glam

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is to never sell myself short…to know that my time, skills, ideas, creativity etc., all have value and worth.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?
I do have a go to team. These are people that I trust and I find to be reliable when I need them. When I first started, I was a one woman show but over time, I have been much more open to delegate responsibilities and trust that they will be executed to my standard.

Melissa Hibbert5

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?
Overall, in 5 years, I see myself leading my thriving Beauty empire that encompasses my cosmetics line, web & television content, publications, events and management firm all of which will empower, entertain, and inspire others through Beauty.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?
My advice to Moguls in the Making is to believe 100% in yourself and to never be afraid to shine. There is a purpose and calling on all of our lives and in order to thrive and succeed, it will require all of us to let our light shine bright and to be excellent in each and every endeavor. When we shine, we give others permission to do the same.

It’s Official: I’m a Published Author!

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIwv3vIkw-A?rel=0%5D

I did it, Team Mogul! I finally finished writing my book, Unleash Your Inner Mogul: Your Guide to Building the Business and Lifestyle That You Desire…and Deserve!

For those of you that have been following along with me on social media (you are connected with me, right?!), you know that this has been a crazy journey, and a longgg time in the making.  I put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears – literally – in order to get this project completed.  In fact, just a few weeks ago, I lost the flash drive that contained the entire book, and I hadn’t backed up the file (rookie mistake #1 and a MAJOR lesson learned).  At that point, I thought about giving up.  I thought it was a sign.  Who was I to write a book, anyway?

Then, I thought to myself, who am I not to write a book?!  I have a story to tell, and to not share my story would not only be doing a great disservice to myself, but also to the people that need to hear, and can relate to my service.  I figured that if my story could help make a difference in at least one person’s life, then my mission will be complete.  I eventually found my flash drive (hallelujah!).  I pressed forward and I got it done…and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see my vision finally come to life!

My book will be available on my website, as well as Amazon very soon! The official release date and details for the official book signing/launch party will be announced soon!

Thank you so much for all of the love, support, and encouraging words.  It truly helped me get through this process with my sanity intact.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Erin Grace

Happy Monday Future Moguls! This week’s MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight is near and dear to my heart because it features Erin Grace, an amazing businesswoman who was a HUGE influence to me during my wedding/event planning days!

Erin is a Los Angeles based wedding & event stylist specializing in event design.  Upon meeting her, you will see why her clients LOVE her: she is fun, creative, energetic, and has a natural flair for designing and executing top notch weddings and events.  Erin recently launched the “day of” coordination division of her business, solely for those planning their big day.  As if this “Mogulcita” wasn’t busy enough, she also holds the Treasurer position for wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon a Wedding. Check out her interview to see how she manages to juggle it all!

Erin Grace - Erin Grace Events

Name: Erin Grace

Location: Los Angeles/Pasadena California

Business Name: Erin Grace Events

Years in Business: 10

Are you a full or part time business owner?

I’m a full time business owner.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business twice, the first time I was 22 and knew I enjoyed planning parties. I stopped to keep up with my job at the time. I started my business again when I was 25 and have been planning events ever since.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

Family and financial freedom.  As a business owner, my work never ends, but, I have the ability to be there for my family as well as the ability to make as much money as I want depending on the work I’ve put in it for the week.

Erin Grace Events

What are your biggest challenges?

For me, the biggest challenge would have to be time.  Although my time is pretty organized I don’t have enough of it.  I’d like to be able to be at home in the evening with my family but I also have to be at networking events. So time is the biggest challenge that I can’t seem to get around.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

Keep dreaming and every day the dream should be bigger and more unattainable. Never give up.

Erin Grace Events

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

I have a team of assistants and interns that make up my 5 woman show! We all have a desire to plan amazing parties/weddings, and when we get together, it’s magic!

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

Triple the weddings. 10 coordinators working weddings for me. Podcasts on wedding planning.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

Never, ever give up!  Your dream is yours to keep and nurture. There will always be someone who thinks you cannot do it. In fact there will always be someone who rejects your business. It’s okay. Do not focus or dwell on it. Move on and find your next client…someone who will love you and need your services. Just do what will make you happy and the clients will come.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Michelle Collins

Happy Monday, Future Moguls! It’s the first Monday of a fresh new month, so you know what that means?! It’s time to get inspired by a new Mogul in the Making!

This week’s entrepreneur spotlight features Michelle Harris Collins, who is doing amazing things to mentor and empower our youth.  Michelle is the founder of The Persona Program, an organization dedicated to unleashing potential in young minds, as preparation for success for a lifetime of excellence through interactive programs and events.  She also recently launched MomSuite, a community where women raising t(w)een daughters can share, inspire and connect with other moms for the purpose of establishing an accountability village.

Read on to learn more about the awesome things Michelle is doing to support young girls on their journey to succeed in every area of their life!

Michelle Collins - Founder of The Persona Program

Name: Michelle Collins

Location: Southern California

Business Name: The Persona Program | MomSuite

Years in Business: 8 officially

Are you a full or part time business owner?

I live and breathe my passion full time.

Why did you start your business?

The Persona Program was created out of my innate love and connection with youth, specifically girls. At the time, I realized that the foundation that I was laying for my own first born 5 year old daughter ( I now have 3 children – two girls and a boy), the values that I would share with her, the hope and opportunity that I couldn’t wait to create for her, it dawned on me that I could share and support other girls with this same information and more. I initially started with teaching Life Skills, Etiquette and Basic Manners. I soon discovered that many of our girls were dealing with heavier issues like low self esteem and poor body image. So I adjusted the focus to include the lessons of self esteem, self love and self value. These are incorporated in the three “C’s” of our mission: Building CONFIDENCE, Developing CHARACTER and Promoting proper CONDUCT. I needed to teach these girls how and why they should accept themselves as they are but improve by working on the characteristics that count the most and will yield success in the future. Over the last couple of years, we have included entrepreneurship as an awareness of the importance of living bold, sharing your gift with the world and creating a successful mindset towards money. Finally, Social Entrepreneurship is also our focus. Girls need to understand that while they are talented and do have gifts and abilities to share, they also have a responsibility to leave the world a better place with those gifts.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

The most rewarding aspect of having my own business is I have designed and created a space, a platform and a community that I can share myself, and what is divinely downloaded to me. It takes many forms and could be an event, mentorship, coaching, encouraging, supporting… With that, I work with God to transform lives, mindsets and behavior. What could be more rewarding than that? Oh yes, I am an example to my children as I encourage them to live not only for themselves but to serve others as well, which should be mutually beneficially.

What are your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenge is sometimes there seem not to be enough hours in a day! Like most women I wear many hats and I am completely fulfilled. However, I am learning to listen to my body, practice self care and be proud and okay with even the smallest of achievements or the tiniest task crossed off my list.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

The best business advice is the following: Define Your Own Success. You Are Your Only Competition. Work Hard and Pray Harder.

Michelle Collins - Founder of The Persona Program

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

I am the force surrounded by my cloud of family and supporters.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years my business, personal brand will explode. My goal with God’s help is to remain consistent, pure, effective and relevant.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

1. Write down everything! Your brain will contain information only for so long, before you soon forget.

2. Pace yourself by slowing down if you must, adjusting when needed but never completely give up because remember, you have a responsibility not just to fulfill your assignment in the earth realm, but to be a blessing to others with it as well.

3. Encourage your own self. Today the crowd will root for you and tomorrow they may leave you stranded. Stand in your own power, pat your own self on the back and keep it moving in good times and bad times.

Michelle is hosting a wonderful event for teen girls called “I Imagine Me Beautiful”  THIS Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10am-3pm.  The interactive workshop will include hands on activities geared toward empowering girls to understand who they are, the responsibility they have to share their gifts with the world, creating a healthy space and knowing that they are enough. It will be an epic day designed to support her on a journey to succeed in every area of her life!  Grab your ticket at http://www.iimaginemebeautiful.eventbrite.com

(I have personally attended a few of Michelle’s past events, and both my daughter’s and I absolutely LOVED them! Your girls will be in for a real treat!)

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: RM Harrison

This week’s entrepreneur spotlight features RM Harrison, a self-proclaimed “clarity junkie,” whose mission is to help entrepreneurs take a giant leap of faith and define their own path to success.  Through workshops and one-on-one strategy sessions, RM brings years of lessons from her own experiences to help her clients rise above fear and limitations to move their businesses forward.

Check out her story…

RM Harrison

Name: RM Harrison
Location: Washington, DC (for Now)
Business Name: RM Harrison
Years in Business: 4 years on Mar 1!

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Full time, since March 2011

Why did you start your business?

I originally started my business because I wanted to do great work on my own terms and wanted to escape the monotony of working for just one company and having to show up in the same place every day. So I guess you could say it was selfishly motivated to begin with.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

The most rewarding thing about being in business for myself is the opportunity to show up in the world the way that I really want to – to choose the focus of my work, to take big risks, and to connect with brilliant people every single day.

What are your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenge has always been trying to avoid overwhelm, which can be a total productivity and creativity killer. It really is a mindset mastery kind of thing that I have to constantly practice. It works most days – but not all.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

Hmm … I wouldn’t necessarily call this business advice but I think it applies all the same: “Nothing will work unless you do.” (Maya Angelou)

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

This is a one-woman show for now. I’m looking forward to having a creative/production team someday very soon.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I imagine I’ll be hosting live workshops, small conferences and retreats –facilitating opportunities for other Moguls in the Making to plan for the business (and life) they desire.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

To other Moguls in the Making, my advice is to never lose sight of your big picture vision. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day noise of running a business, especially when you’re a one woman show. So do things to consistently cultivate the vision you have for your business and your life – connect with people who’re already where you want to be, check in with your goals often and keep yourself accountable to making them happen.
