What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business? Seeing parents change their thinking with regards to parenting, and being more.  Seeing enough evidence of children raising their grades in school as a result of being willing to improve their personal and parenting skills in the interest of their kids strategic parental involvement.

Nicoline Ambe1

What are your biggest challenges? Booking more speaking engagements, building better relationships that result in more prospects and clients, getting paid what the content and information is worth, and getting known and recognized for my expertise. What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? Believe in yourself, and believe in the value of the product you offer.

Nicoline Ambe3

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show? I have a team of one: my assistant. He drives me to speaking engagements and handles book sales during events while I’m speaking with parents. Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? To be honest with you, I love what I do. I enjoy the process and the journey. I have no goals and no timelines. Each waking day, I simply decide to do one thing to move the business forward. Perhaps the one thing could be making one phone call, following up on a client, sending an email, writing my newsletter, marketing on social media. I see my business as just one aspect of my busy life...just one aspect of the grand scheme of things that life offers. So I am just having fun and not stressing out about long term goals. Maybe that’s why I’m still part-time (but I’m okay with that too!)

Nicoline Ambe2

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making? I would say STAY FOCUSED ON YOURSELF. Take plenty of time to THINK. I would also say, be healthy. Business is extremely difficult, and if you’re not in good shape, you won’t have stamina and energy to keep going for a long time. Your body helps you live your dreams, so take care of it by eating healthy foods and staying fit.  Lastly, think through your ideas, think through your strategies, then take immediate ACTION to implement your ideas. Always pray for vision and discernment because it is vision that drives the action. To learn more about Dr. Ambe, connect with her online:

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Monique Moliere Piper

Today's MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight features Monique Moliere Piper, aka the Thrive Specialist.  As a Certified Professional Coach and Speaker, she has taught women across the United States how to achieve greater success by getting their lives out of default and into divine design.  The author of “Dance in the Sun: Being the Authentic You”, Monique's calling is to help ladies create lives they love. Check out her story...

Monique Moliere Piper - On Purpose Coaching

Name: Monique Moliere Piper Location: Nationwide Business Name: On Purpose Coaching Years in Business: 6+

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Full time business owner Why did you start your business? I wanted to give women the support they need to live their potential, through coaching. Too many are sitting paralyzed in information overwhelm. Unsure and fearful of what steps to take next. My clients decide their next “On Purpose” actions, and break through mental barriers that has them stuck. In one sentence, I help women get crystal clear, strategic, and execute in their lives and businesses. Monique Moliere Piper - On Purpose Coaching What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business? Honestly, the ability to get paid to do what matters most to me. I want women to know there is no ceiling on what’s possible, regardless of where you are, were, or where you are starting. Human potential has no ceiling. Our limited thinking does. Coaching and speaking allows me a unique opportunity. I teach others how to widen their window of what’s possible for them to achieve, and also “how” to achieve it. What are your biggest challenges? Juggling both family and career aspirations. I am a wife and mother first. However, “I know like I know” that my purpose on earth is to be of service to others. Another big challenge is consistency. This is an area I teach in workshops, in part, because being consistent is not a one time event. Life is always happening, learning to work on our desires through it all is an ongoing project. The plain truth, priorities do shift, home will need more of your attention during certain periods. The time one has to invest may change from time to time, but, investing time has to be a consistent commitment. Monique Moliere Piper - On Purpose Coaching What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? The best business advice I ever received is, make a decision! A decision puts you in a power position, because you are in action. A wrong decision can be fixed. A right decision puts you ahead of the game. The worst thing you can do, is sit on the sidelines. Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show? A small, incredibly devoted team. Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? I see my business, influencing over a hundred thousand women to live their potential unapologetically. Monique Moliere Piper - On Purpose Coaching What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making? Gather enough information to take the next step. Collecting information alone, does not create a business. You must be willing to get your hands dirty. You are going to fail, that’s part of the process. So, fail fast. Use this formula: Action + Reflecting - Dwelling = Lessons. My second piece of advice, get a coach. If you are really serious about going to the next level. The most successful people have coaches for a reason! For more information on Monique Moliere Piper, connect with her online:

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Denika Turner-Stephens

Happy Monday, future moguls! I hope you all had an amazing weekend.  I am so excited to be back with the Mogul in the Making entrepreneur spotlight.  I took a brief hiatus, but I have a great line-up of uber-talented and inspiring entrepreneur interviews coming up in the next few weeks, so be sure to check back frequently so that you don't miss a beat!

To kick things off, this week's entrepreneur spotlight features Denika Turner-Stephens, founder of Runway 4 Peace, a community organization whose mission is to create and showcase positive initiatives in an effort to raise awareness for the Stop the Violence cause. Growing up in the city of Compton, Denika realized there were limited resources and activities available to inner city youth.  As a teen, she dreamed of becoming a model, but was unable to find programs in her area to assist in fulfilling that dream. So, she made a promise to herself to do something about the huge void that desperately needed to be filled.  In 2012, Denika started Runway 4 Peace as a way to give young girls the opportunity to experience life on the runway. Check out her story...

Denika Turner-Stephens

Name: Denika Turner-Stephens Location: Compton, CA Business Name: Runway 4 Peace Years In business: 3

Are you full or part time business owner? Part Time Why did you start your business? Growing up in the City of Compton, there were not many activities for young girls to participate in. I wanted to model and that was a program that our community lacked. So I decided to provide those services. Unfortunately during the months spent puzzling my ideas, my niece was shot 3 times outside her home March of 2010 at the age of 10. To God be the Glory she survived.  After experiencing something so tragic, I felt eager to raise awareness for the STOP THE VIOLENCE cause. Compton is known to be very violent and I wanted to change the mood by gathering the youth to create and showcase positivity, and also give young girls the opportunity to experience life on the runway. That's when I knew I had a passion with a purpose. Denika Turner-Stephens Runway 4 Peace What has been the most rewarding aspect of your business? I would have to say being my own boss and doing what I love. It's a joy seeing my vision come to life. What are your biggest challenges? I am afraid of rejection so networking is my biggest challenge. With me being young, not many people take my project seriously, therefore it creates this barrier that I am afraid to overcome. I came to the point, as if, I can do it on my own, but reality is, I NEED A TRUSTWORTHY TEAM.

Denika Turner-Stephens Runway 4 Peace

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? "If your dreams don't scare you, then they are not big enough" -Steve Harvey "It doesn't have to be perfect to get started but you have to get started for it to be perfect" -Natalie Gouche Do you have a team, or are you a one man/woman show? Everyone thinks I'm a one woman show, however, I do run my ideas through my husband. Denika Turner-Stephens Runway 4 Peace Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? I plan to have a modeling school for my W.E.R.K program which is a Women's Empowerment Runway Klass to provide free training. What advice would you give to other Moguls in the making? Understand that your purpose is for YOU. There will be hard times, and it will seem as if no one cares, but never give up. Remember your "WHY" for doing what you do!

3 Reasons Your Business Is NOT Making Money…and How to Fix It!

How to Get Clients

Let’s face it: we’re all in business to make money. Even if you’re doing something that you absolutely LOVE and would do in a heartbeat if you weren’t getting paid, the reality is you have bills to pay, so you need your business to generate income. As a business/marketing consultant, I speak with several entrepreneurs on a daily basis, and the most common question that I hear is “why am I not making any money?” You’re active on social media, blogging on a weekly basis, attending all of your local networking events…you know, all of the things that you should be doing. But, you still can’t seem to land enough clients to bring in a consistent cash flow. What gives? There are many different factors that can contribute to this, but I am going to break down the three most common reasons your business may not be bringing in money: You’re a Jack/Jill of All Trades You are a photographer, but you also have your own jewelry line, sell homemade candles, makeup, and weight loss shakes. Your goal is to bring in multiple revenue streams. The problem? Your potential customers are confused! They don’t really know exactly what it is that you do because you are offering many different products and services, none of which go hand in hand with one another. The Fix: Niche down. Decide on the ONE thing that you want to be known as the go-to person for, and do away with the rest. You can still create multiple streams of income by finding several different ways to profit from your primary offering (Example: if you are a photographer, consider adding a photo booth, teaching photography workshops, etc). You Don’t Have a Solid Plan Simply put: you’re winging it! You’re doing any and everything that you think you should do to find clients, but you really don’t have a solid strategy in place. Have you ever heard the saying “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail?” Well, it holds truth when it comes to marketing your business as well. If you want to attract more clients and start making money, you’ll have to create a strategic roadmap outlining how you will do so. The Fix: Create a list of specific marketing activities that you will consistently engage in to increase brand awareness and attract new clients. Then implement, implement, implement! Be sure to include a timeframe to monitor each activity and measure its effectiveness before moving on to something else. You Aren’t Selling Anything When I first started my business, I knew that I wanted to teach other entrepreneurs how to create a marketing strategy for their business. I put up a website, I offered tips on social media, but I really didn’t have anything to sell, and, you guessed it, I wasn’t making a dime. Now, it may seem like a no-brainer that in order to make money, you have to have a product or service to sell, but I’ve come to realize that I wasn’t the only one not actually selling anything, while expecting clients to come my way. The Fix: Get clear on your services and offerings. You should be able to clearly and confidently tell potential clients what you do and how it will benefit them if they choose to work with you. Name: Haneef R. Jordan Location: Rancho Cucamonga. Ca Business Name: Simply Haneef Radio/ T.V. Years In business: 4 years

Are you full or part time business owner? I am currently a full time business owner Why did you start your business? I decided to run after my destiny and live in my purpose.

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your business? Being able to spend quality time with my family, and being fully present. What are your biggest challenges? Truthfully, generating income on a consistent basis, as my business is about sponsorships.  Yet, hard work does pay off. So never fold because you are challenged in this area.

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? To stay consistent, be clear on your message, and focus on perfecting one thing at a time. Do you have a team, or are you a one man/woman show? No one is a one woman/man show. The truth is everyone helps in their own way. So to answer your question, I have a team, i.e. God, my family, my friends, my Facebook and social media (tribe).

Haneef Jordan - Simply Haneef

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? I see Simply Haneef making a difference in the lives of people all over.  Through the radio/ TV show, I see Simply Haneef, the brand, on a global scale. Forbes list...that's what I see in the next 5 years. What advice would you give to other Moguls in the making? Here’s my advice: Trust the process, perfect you’re niche. Pay attention to your circle and surround yourself with people who believe in you and what you stand for. Make sure you surround yourself with others who have a positive light around them. Focus on connecting with people you can learn from, who are where you would like to be one day. Never stop learning or being willing to learn from others. Never stop creating and writing things down as they come.  Review them often. Learn to turn off the business to connect with those who you love. Exercise the spirit of decrement. This will help you in your decision making process (even when it’s not the popular thing to do). Make sure you always take care of the legal side of your business, so it doesn’t come back and bite you on the butt later on down the line. Lastly, give with your heart without wanting to receive anything back. Stay on your journey of always becoming your true authentic self. It’s always about the journey, it’s never about the destination.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Jennifer Pink

Today's MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight features Ms. Jennifer Pink.  Known as the Single Mom Sage, Jennifer is a mompreneur dedicated to providing supportive resources and information to empower and strengthen single moms in their journey of womanhood and motherhood.  By the age of 25, she was a single mother of 2, embarking on a divorce, jobless, on welfare, and homeless.  When she was ready to give up and succumb to surrounding pressures, she was blessed with another chance! She was given a job, a home, and shortly after that another baby. Her life received a fresh jump start! Jennifer turned her struggles into opportunities and today, she is living confidently in her calling. She is the voice of single mothers instilling hope and help into their community!  Check out her story...

Ms Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage Name: Ms. Jennifer Pink Location: Los Angeles, CA Business Name: Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage Years in Business: 8 years with The P.I.N.K. Foundation 1.5 as Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage

Are you a full or part time business owner? I still work a full time job, and run my businesses full time as well. Why did you start your business? I originally started my non-profit because I was homeless, jobless and about to go through a divorce with 2 kids and couldn’t find a job. So a friend pushed me to use my skills to start my own business. I started The Persistent Investigation for Never-Ending Knowledge (P.I.N.K.) Foundation. The original mission was to bring together like-minded women in hopes of supporting one another in life. After I got pregnant with my 3rd (and last) child, I felt like I couldn’t continue being an entrepreneur, work, and be a mother. Well, the network I built through P.I.N.K. wasn’t hearing it and one woman in particular, Jasmine Powers, pushed me to do something, especially blogging. I was resistant but finally gave in and set out to create my blog. The entrepreneur in me wouldn’t allow me not to create a brand for the blog. I knew I was going to call it The J’s Sandbox (my children and I all have names that start with J), and it was going to be about my journey of raising them in the sandbox of life. I asked one of my network groups for advice on what to call myself; everybody says mompreneur and such, so I wanted to be original. One of my mentors, Denise J. Hart, asked a couple of questions about who I really am and what the blog was about and its purpose, and gave me the name Single Mom Sage. It was like she opened my eyes to the purpose of my life. Within minutes after her crowning me with that title I had created Ms. Jennifer Pink, Single Mom Sage. I now know how I can turn my pain, struggles, and victories into a life saving message for women just like me. If I can help one single mom not go round and round in the circle of survival, then it is all worth it.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business? Watching the spark it has created in my daughter. My daughter is the oldest, and watching me create my business and brand has sparked her to go after her dreams on her own terms. From birth I have surrounded her with images from my OBGYN, to her pediatrician, dentist and teachers. I wanted to instill in her that she can be anything. I never thought that I would be the thing she wanted to become. I can’t wait to watch what it manifests in my boys lives. What are your biggest challenges? My blood family. I come from a "we don’t tell our dirt in the streets" family. We smile, walk with poise and grace, and serve others even when our house is burning down right behind us. So for them, I’ve made way too many mistakes, and standing up in front of anyone and telling them I am a single mom of 3 is terrifying to them. They can’t stand that I speak my mind on social media or that I tell my business at all. They also can’t fathom how I could make money or support my family doing what I do. They would much rather I just work at my good job and keep climbing the ladder. Winning $10k at the Innovation Summit was the first time I heard my mom tell me she was proud of me for what I was doing in my business. Not to mention the family members who don’t like my stance because it goes against where they are in their lives so much, so they throw my past in my face in order to discredit me.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? Just do you. When you create a business the way “they” say you should or to appease someone else, it isn’t authentic. Although you may make money, you won’t have the freedom and true success that comes from doing it your way and being you. Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show? I have a small team. I have a graphic artist, an editor, and a few village members who pitch in or allow me to bounce ideas off of them.

Ms. Jennifer PINK - The Single Mom Sage

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? This is scary to say but in the next 5 years I see myself traveling across the world empowering single moms and bringing this community together. I see my kids thriving in the creation of their boutique and the J Crew being a household name. What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making? Don’t dim your light for anyone. Not your family, your friends or the world. You were meant to shine so please let your light shine in its own unique way. When we shine the way we were meant to shine, we THRIVE. MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Brittney Castro

Today's Mogul in the Making Entrepreneur Spotlight features Brittney Castro, founder and CEO of Financially Wise Women,  a Los Angeles based financial planning firm for women. She specializes in working with busy professional and entrepreneurial women who are passionate about life and want to gain clarity around their money. Brittney’s mission is to help women plan and create the life of their dreams, free from anxiety about money. She is known for her innovative, non-judgmental, compassionate approach to financial planning, and has been featured in several major publications, such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Planning Magazine, Investment News, and Registered Rep Magazine to name a few! Check out her story...

Brittney Castro - Financially Wise Women

Name: BRITTNEY CASTRO

Location: LOS ANGELES

Business Name: FINANCIALLY WISE WOMEN

Years in Business: 2 YEARS

Are you a full or part time business owner? Full time. Why did you start your business? I started my business because I am very passionate about helping others, specifically women, use their money to live their dream lives. After being a financial planner working at other firms for about 7 years, I saw how savvy and successful women were still so intimidated by their money, and most avoided hiring a financial planner since most of the industry is still made up of male financial advisors.  I wanted to be the go-to financial planner for women and teach others to live an authentic and inspiring life by learning how to make, manage, save, invest, and protect their money in a fun and simple way.  My mission is to be the type of financial planner that changes the landscape for modern women and how they see and feel about their money, and is a pioneer for other women financial planners who want to help empower and educate women around money. What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business? The most rewarding aspect of having my own business is seeing the direct impact my advice and guidance brings to my client’s financial lives. I love hearing the success stories of my clients who tell me they love managing their money after working with me and make more money because they are now viewing their money in a whole new way. It is beyond rewarding to know I have helped them transform their financial lives from one of stress, overwhelm and anxiety to one of fun, excitement and peace of mind. Money is just a tool to be used however we desire in life and once my clients really commit to the financial planning relationship with me, so many magical things are possible for them. It’s so amazing and it inspires me to continue helping people with their finances, one woman at a time.

Brittney Castro Money Class

What are your biggest challenges? The biggest challenge is managing all the different hats one must wear when owning a business. Every day I have to come fully ready to tackle the many roles of being a business owner and make sure I am leading my FWW team and clients in the right direction. It is not always easy but with the help of my amazing support group full of family and friends, I am able to constantly grow to become a better and better business owner and leader for my FWW tribe. What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? To enjoy the journey. I know it sounds cliché but it is so important to enjoy the ride. It is full of ups and downs, twists and turns and there is always “something” else to worry about, do, work on, etc. so you have to be able to cherish each moment and soak up as much of the journey as possible. Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show? I have a team that consists of one assistant and one intern.

Brittney Castro - Financially Wise Women

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? I see the FWW business becoming more of a lifestyle brand that helps women create their ideal lives and expand into the media industry in order to do so. My goal is to continue serving as many women as possible through our financial planning services, online products, webinars, workshops, live conferences, and eventually launch the Financially Wise Women TV Show to help people understand that money can really be fun and simple. We have very lofty goals, but given our track record within the past two years of starting, I am only very excited to see where the FWW path takes us. What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making? Keep your eye on the prize and keep going no matter what. When you follow your dreams and lead from your heart day in and day out, amazing things can happen in your life. I have been blown away by all that has come to me since starting my business and even when the naysayers and myself for that matter have doubted the goals I set out for myself, I’ve only been able to achieve more than what I imagined because I’ve stayed the course and followed my heart. MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Alisha Hall

Today's Mogul in the Making Entreneur Spotlight features Alisha Hall, founder of the Golden Women Foundation.   After receiving a Bachelors degree in Arts, Entertainment Management with a concentration in the Music Business from Columbia College Chicago, Alicia moved to Los Angeles to work for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) where she spent 10 years administering royalties and supporting the careers of composers, songwriters and publishers.  She got the idea to start Golden Women Foundation when she gathered some of her closest friends in one room to discuss some everyday topics.  Eight hours later, she knew this gathering had grown into something more than just a "conversation with the girls" but the beginning of establishing a network of women of worth and value.  Alisha is dedicated to encouraging women to becoming the best they can, not only for themselves but also for others around them.  Check out her story...

Are you a full or part time business owner? Full-Time Why did you start your business? In 2009, I had this deep desire to get a group of women together.  All of the women in my circle were dealing with difficulties and were too afraid to share them with anyone other than me.  My advice was limited, and I knew that if they could only open up, they could receive the help or healing they needed.  So I invited them all to our first retreat. This was unlike any other girls night out.  Mostly strangers to each other, we discussed some heavy and emotional topics.  We spoke of inspirations, defeats, pains, and victories. Leaving with so much encouragement, new friendships, and strength, I knew we had to keep this going because we were on to something great. I know now that when women open up and share their life experience, something powerful happens. When we encourage and support each other, something powerful happens. When we give back and serve others, our spirits are fulfilled. When you have a taste of that fulfillment, you never want to stop giving, encouraging, and sharing.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business? I am rewarded by the peace I have at the end of my workday. I am the best co-worker I have ever had. I am diligent, I am encouraging, motivating...I do my part and I have fun while doing it. I don’t have a hidden agenda and I don’t keep secrets. I am open, so I receive all the great things in store for Golden Women Foundation. When I am blessed to have other co-workers beside myself, I have already created an awesome work environment. I have only been full-time for almost two-months but I absolutely love it! I know how hard I worked for my previous employer. I am excited about the work I am putting into Golden Women Foundation. What are your biggest challenges? Finding funding and grants are my biggest challenge. I know my strength is execution and getting the work done. Selling is not my strong point, however, if I focus on it as something that I must execute, I know it will get done. It will be a challenge but I will get funding. I am actually excited to see how well I do at it.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received? One of the best pieces of business advice I received came a few days ago. I was told to not be afraid to do what I don’t know. I need to remember to remain faithful, fearless and open. My spirit led me to give back to my community so I am coming into it with good intentions. I believe I can’t fail if my intentions are good. Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show? I work with a board of directors. They are great guides and we vote and discuss all things that happen with the Foundation. They all have an expertise in different fields and collectively, we make a great team.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years? I see Golden Women Foundation being the Google of resource for women that live Golden lives and want to be pillars in their community and in their homes. We all know where to go see funny memes, videos and new music. Golden Women Foundation needs to be the place to go when you want to live and lead an honorable lifestyle, and where you get and give encouragement. What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making? I had the will to do more for Golden Women Foundation in my heart everyday for the past 6 years. Every day that I didn’t take a step toward my dream/vision, it literally gave me anxiety. If God has put something in your heart to do, He won’t leave you alone until you get it done. Once you do, you will be living your life like it’s Golden! Golden Women Foundation hosts a bi-weekly small business meetup, featuring an expert guest speaker presenting on various topics to help you move your business forward.  Check out there upcoming events, and come out and learn, network, and expand your business contacts!
