MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: RM Harrison

This week’s entrepreneur spotlight features RM Harrison, a self-proclaimed “clarity junkie,” whose mission is to help entrepreneurs take a giant leap of faith and define their own path to success.  Through workshops and one-on-one strategy sessions, RM brings years of lessons from her own experiences to help her clients rise above fear and limitations to move their businesses forward.

Check out her story…

RM Harrison

Name: RM Harrison
Location: Washington, DC (for Now)
Business Name: RM Harrison
Years in Business: 4 years on Mar 1!

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Full time, since March 2011

Why did you start your business?

I originally started my business because I wanted to do great work on my own terms and wanted to escape the monotony of working for just one company and having to show up in the same place every day. So I guess you could say it was selfishly motivated to begin with.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

The most rewarding thing about being in business for myself is the opportunity to show up in the world the way that I really want to – to choose the focus of my work, to take big risks, and to connect with brilliant people every single day.

What are your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenge has always been trying to avoid overwhelm, which can be a total productivity and creativity killer. It really is a mindset mastery kind of thing that I have to constantly practice. It works most days – but not all.

RM Harrison

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

Hmm … I wouldn’t necessarily call this business advice but I think it applies all the same: “Nothing will work unless you do.” (Maya Angelou)

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

This is a one-woman show for now. I’m looking forward to having a creative/production team someday very soon.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I imagine I’ll be hosting live workshops, small conferences and retreats –facilitating opportunities for other Moguls in the Making to plan for the business (and life) they desire.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

To other Moguls in the Making, my advice is to never lose sight of your big picture vision. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day noise of running a business, especially when you’re a one woman show. So do things to consistently cultivate the vision you have for your business and your life – connect with people who’re already where you want to be, check in with your goals often and keep yourself accountable to making them happen.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Amber Wright

Today’s Mogul in the Making entrepreneur spotlight features Amber L. Wright, M.A., founder and Chief Conversation Officer of TalktoAmber.com, a blog and website designed to help women learn how to speak from the heart, connect with others and change their lives. Amber’s philosophy is, if you want to be happy – from the boardroom to the bedroom, you have to know how to communicate with clarity and confidence. She’s here to teach you how to do just that!

A specialist in interpersonal communication and relationships with a low-grade obsession over popular culture, Amber’s work has been featured on the award winning website, BlackandMarriedWithKids.com, BlogHer.com, GlobalPostRelationships.com, and ForHarriet.com.

Check out her story…

Name: Amber Wright
Location: Carson, CA
Business Name: Talk to Amber Media
Years in Business: 2

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Currently I teach college courses as an adjunct professor, so technically I’m a part time business owner. Despite that, however, I think when you run a business it’s always full time because you likely work on it in some respect on a daily basis – even though how much time you spend on it may vary.

Why did you start your business?

I started Talk to Amber Media because I love helping other bloggers and entrepreneurs grow their businesses by teaching them how to become fearless speakers and effective communicators. There has been a void in the communities I am apart for that kind of assistance, so my business as a public speaking and communication coach is there to fill it.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

What has been the most rewarding for me thus far on a professional level is seeing the growth in my clients as their confidence builds and knowing that my assistance contributed to that. On a personal level, I’d say it’s been the reality that I’m following through with pursuing my dreams and building the life I desire for myself and my family through entrepreneurship.

What are your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenges are the huge learning curves that come with being an entrepreneur. Nobody walks into it fully informed on what it takes to succeed. Much of it is “on-the-job” training. The process of learning and figuring it out as I go is difficult but highly beneficial at the same time.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received came from my business mentor, Lamar Tyler. In a nutshell, his advice was to stop over thinking things and just create, build, and succeed.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

Table for one, please! My husband is my IT guy, and helps me with many things on the back end and technical side of my business. Other than that…it’s all me, my one brain, and two hands.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

I see my business in the next five years as having grown to a healthy roster of notable clients, thriving financially, and something that I will still be in love with doing every day.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

The number one piece of advice I would tell other Moguls in the Making is to remember that there’s no race in entrepreneurship. Build your business in a way that works for you and your life and do your best not to compare yourselves to others. Remember that there’s only one you and that the work you do is valuable.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Lolita Korneagay

Today’s Mogul in the Making Entrepreneur Spotlight features Lolita Korneagay, founder of Simply Suggestions Hypnotherapy. I first met her at a Sunday Success Session, a fun, interactive networking event that she co-created to educate, motivate, and empower attendees in all aspects of life.  We instantly connected, and I just had to know more about her interesting profession!

Lolita helps her clients gain the confidence  needed to overcome their fears and successfully reach their goals. Through the practice of hypnotherapy (a form of psychotherapy used to create subconscious change in the form of new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviors or feelings), she teaches how to harness the power of your subconscious mind to make positive transformations in your life that will lead to happiness and success.

Read on to learn how her journey to find self-fulfillment led to discovering her passion for helping others succeed!

Lolita Korneagay - SImply Suggestions Hypnotherapy

Name: Lolita Korneagay
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Business Name: Simply Suggestions
Years in Business: 1

Are you a full or part time business owner?

I am a full-time business owner.

Why did you start your business?

As a Registered Nurse, I’ve always had a desire to help people. A couple of years ago, I started a personal journey to find self-fulfillment and I ended up finding my passion. I discovered the power of the mind and how my thoughts had a direct relation to my reality. I then knew that this was the new way that I wanted to help people.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

I love when my client comes to me with a specific problem and in a couple of weeks the problem is no longer relevant in their lives.

Lolita Korneagay - Founder Simply Suggestions Hypnotherapy

What are your biggest challenges?

My biggest challenge has been the length of time that my clients return to me for follow-up. I wish that they would come back weekly for a couple of months, but they usually only need a couple of sessions! I guess that’s a blessing in disguise.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

To not devalue myself or my services.

Lolita Korneagay - Founder Simply Suggestions Hypnotherapy

Do you have a team or are you a one woman show?

I’m a one woman show for now.

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

I see myself owning a wellness clinic where multiple alternative medicine practitioners will provide services.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

Keep your vision! Don’t allow other people’s opinions to influence your decisions.

MITM Entrepreneur Spotlight: Raeh Williams

Hey there, future moguls! We’re back with another Mogul in the Making Entrepreneur Spotlight.  This week, we are featuring Raeh Williams, a “solopreneur strategist” who teaches entrepreneurs how to have a profitable business they love, and how to create the time and money freedom that they need in order to truly live out their dreams.

Read on to find out how this “Island Girl” was able to build her BOSS Business, and her plans to catapult her brand by 2017!

Raeh Roker

Name: Raeh Williams

Location: Nassau Bahamas (70%) Clermont Florida (30%)

Business Name: Raeh Williams Inc.

Years in Business: 5

Are you a full or part time business owner?

Full Time

Why did you start your business?

Entrepreneurship is in my bones and I love my freedom.

Raeh Williams - Solopreneur Strategist

What has been the most rewarding aspect of having your own business?

Flexibility for time with my family

What are your biggest challenges?

Too much to do! Finding and keeping good people to work with/for me.

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?

When you come up with an idea or a business, expect to work 10x harder than you first think you will.

Do you have a team or are you a one man/woman show?

I have a virtual team of sorts. I do the bulk of my work, but I outsource on many web/email/tech items and I have a VA who helps with editing, scheduling, and bookkeeping.

Raeh Roker 1

Where do you see your biz in the next 5 years?

I have a goal to grow into a group of companies.  I am working to have the next “branch” so to speak going by 2017. I see my business being a place for not only inspiration to other businesswomen but the go-to-resource for young women entrepreneurs.

What advice would you give to other Moguls in the Making?

It’s not a game.  Online business especially has given the impression that it is “easy”, just post quotes and put up a nice website and they will come. You have to work honey! And work 10 times harder and smarter than everyone else. Otherwise, you won’t grow.
